Turning a new leaf

It seems like ages since I’ve been at my sewing machine. I promised myself this year I would spend more time sewing. It hasn’t happened.

One of the reasons is because my sketch book is really a chameleon and blends into the background of wherever I toss it so every time I have a great idea and need to record it, nine out of ten times I can’t find the sketchbook and reach instead for the nearest scrap of paper. Scraps of paper are stuffed everywhere and I can never find what I’m looking for.

So I’m making a sketchbook wrap with a strap so I can hang it on the wall and it will always be close at hand. yes it will.

I have this leaf that I printed on fabric that I’m going to put on the cover. It looks quite real I think. Well I guess it should, it was real at some point.

And I also wanted some rusted fabric for the background. But of course, none of that on hand either. So my first thought was to print a rust texture onto fabric, but then I thought I’d try something different. So I’ve painted some wonder-under and now I’m waiting for it to dry. I think it should work quite well. We’ll soon see.
