The Phoebe Handbag Pattern: Refining the Design

When designing sewing patterns, it’s always necessary to make multiple samples using different kinds of fabric. In this way you can refine the design and make adjustments to size, interfacing and make any other necessary tweaks.

After making the first sample using a beige linen, I made the second sample using two colors of cotton fabric, black and one of my hand-dyed fabrics. I simply love the way this bag turned out, and although I might make a couple more small changes, I think this pattern is almost ready to go. What do you think?

  1. Love this bag even more with your hand dyed fabric. I am not much of a bag lover but this design is LOVELY! I prefer bags that are a bit more squat and not quite as high….it helps me find things a bit easier.

  2. I love your latest bag. So chic, expensive-looking, and totally original . I want to make this,,,,,cheers,,,,Lynne
