If you’re anything like me you never seem to have metal charms, beads, buttons or embellishments in the right color when you need them. I always seem to have more silver than gold or copper. Here’s a quick and easy way to change the color of your metal embellishments.

Next time you’re visiting your local craft store, pick up a Krylon Leafing Pen in your favorite color, or order them here here on Amazon.com

Yes it is that easy!.

You can use these pens for all sorts of different painting or marking applications, even on fabric. They are my favorite metallic marking pens.

  1. Does the pen come off after a time? Need to colour some silver beads on a cream dress as they need to be gold?
    Thanks x

    1. I expect they would scratch. If you need buttons that are functional rather than decorative, it’s probably best to purchase them the color you need.

  2. Hi Linda! I just found your post, thank you for your tips! I just have one question: does the image of the buttons show the colors after painting them? I am trying to decide whether to buy the copper or the gold one, and I am worried the gold would look too much yellow-ish and shiny. Thanks!

  3. Can you colour teeth on zippers with those pens? For instance change silver zip to gold on pair of boots?

    1. I’ve never tried it but I don’t think it would work very well. I think the color would eventually rub off.

  4. Hi,
